John Bush left his hometown of Lyons, Kansas in 1973 to attend the University of Kansas and with one minor blemish of a year in California has resided in Lawrence since that time. He was a loan officer with Capitol Federal Savings and later Senior Vice President for Lending and Loan Servicing with Columbia Savings.
After Columbia Savings was sold John joined Pat Flavin & Terry Gittins as a partner in Calvin, Eddy, and Kappleman Real Estate. In 2000 John & Pat Flavin changed the name of the firm to Lawrence Realty Associates and moved to a new facility at 4321 W 6th Street. As Chairman/CEO, John helped Lawrence Realty become one of Lawrence's leading real estate companies and a leader in innovation for real estate firms thoughout the region.
In December of 2007 John merged LRA with McGrew Real Estate and remains a partner of the firm.
John has served on the board of directors for numerous civic, charitable, and service organizations and he has been active in local, state and national politics. Bush worked with Senator Bob Dole in his national bids for the Presidency and is currently one of the Kansas State Finance Chairs for Senator Pat Roberts.
John is married to the former Ann Hartley and has three children, Tom, Meredith & Jack.
